Nile Cruise from Hurghada – Luxor to Aswan

An early pickup from your hotel lobby for the drive to Luxor, about four to five hours across the Eastern Desert — the same route our Luxor day trip and 2-day trip already use. Your guide talks you through how the cruise works before you arrive, since boarding a boat for several nights is a different kind of trip from anything else in our catalogue.

You board the cruise vessel in Luxor and settle into your cabin, with some Luxor sightseeing worked into the afternoon before the boat finally sets sail south toward Aswan. The exact balance of sightseeing versus rest time on embarkation day depends on the specific cruise itinerary your coordinator books for you, since sailing schedules vary between vessels and by season.

The boat sails south along the Nile toward Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt thanks to centuries spent buried under desert sand. A shore excursion takes you from the boat into the temple itself and back, with the rest of the day spent on board as the Nile scenery moves past — a genuinely different pace from our road-based day trips.

A stop at Kom Ombo, an unusual double temple split symmetrically down the middle and dedicated to two different gods side by side under one roof, set on a scenic bend of the Nile. Like Edfu, it's a short shore excursion from the boat rather than a road transfer, and one of the more visually striking stops on the whole cruise.

The boat arrives in Aswan, and shore excursions take you to the Aswan High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk still attached to its ancient quarry bedrock, and Philae Temple, relocated to its current island after being flooded by the Aswan dams. It's the cruise's final major sightseeing day before disembarkation, covering the same core Aswan sites our standalone Aswan trip visits.

You disembark in Aswan, and a private vehicle takes you on the long drive back to Hurghada, the same road-transfer method our existing Aswan trips already use rather than a flight leg. It's a genuinely different kind of trip to look back on — waking up somewhere new each morning on the water rather than driving to a different site every day.
